The 63rd recipe I made with the Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking with Dorie group is Maple-Walnut Pie and can be found in the Baking with Dorie cookbook on page 274.
Ingredients: piecrust (store bought or homemade…I used homemade as I’m not a fan of the store bought ones when making one is so easy and so much tastier), maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, butter, and walnuts.
This is a variation of the more-familiar Pecan Pie that we all know and love, a very nice variation, tasty and just as quick to make. While Mark loves Pecan Pie, he also loves walnuts so he was very happy with this week’s assignment. I made a third of the recipe in a 7” pie pan as that seemed like a prudent choice for us. While the pie was baking, I put in a quarter sheet pan tray of vegetables to roast as well so I could get double use of the oven time. All in all, this is a very easy recipe with excellent results, a keeper for sure.
If you would like to join in, just make it, bake it, and leave a link to your post at the Tuesdays with Dorie website: click here. At the website you will find the postings for the current recipe, the list of recipes chosen each month, and some baking chit chat that is definitely helpful as well as fun. We don’t publish Dorie's recipes here, but you can buy the book and have them ALL at your fingertips.
