READING: I've been continuing to read more of the History Day papers and enjoying that a lot as well as catching up with odds and ends I have sitting around the house on my "read this and get it out of the stack" pile.
SWIMMING NEWS: It's the end of the regular season for swimming for dual meets and invites so now the IU swimmers are training for Big Ten Championships, the girls coming up soon and the boys more toward the end of the month. Matt made the times and slots to swim for IU, so he is absolutely thrilled to be headed in that direction.
COOKING BYTES: The new Tuesdays with Dorie group fires up Tuesday, February 7th, with the next round of baking with Dorie's books, this time Baking with Julia which Dorie Greenspan wrote to accompany the PBS series of the same title. While these are not Dorie's recipes, the book is exciting because it includes recipes from so many famous bakers. There is a great variety in it...savory as well as sweet, so I am looking forward to that aspect rather than just going into another baking book of sweets. Instead of Tuesdays with Dorie, Part 2, I believe the group is going by Tuesdays with Dorie - Baking with Julia, or TWD - Baking with Julia or TWD - BWJ for short, and you can find the information here as it is not too late to join in: click here. This new adventure is only an every-other-week commitment with a leave your link connection if you bake that recipe, you can read the "rules" at the site.
FAV NEW FIND: Who has time to find anything new this week...I've been busy checking out Pinterest in my spare time...slightly addicting so I limit my time exploring and pinning. Such fun to see what friends pin and are interested in by what they pin.
FAV THIS PAST WEEK: Watching the Super Bowl and seeing the 46 Indianapolis Children's Choir singers who were chosen to sing the National Anthem as back-up with KC...they were front and center in the middle of the football field and got some camera time, so that was very fun to see. Two of the singers were friends of ours, the two girls taking swim lessons in the summers here with Matt and Lauren, they are Anna and Josie. Here's a look if you missed it.
WEEK IN REVIEW: It was such fun to have the Super Bowl in town, with all the excitement of the game, and all the fans in town saying such nice things about our city...it was just a lot of fun to see so many smiling faces happy and excited to be here. We live far enough away from the center of the city not to have the blocked-off streets affect us at all, even Mark's office route was not affected as it was all so well planned and executed. Since the Colts weren't playing, it was nice to have the Manning connection to cheer for (and no one around here was going to cheer for the opponents as you might have guessed for reasons you might have guessed). IU won a big basketball game against in-state rival Purdue, which was just wonderful. The weather was truly something to rejoice in being late January and early February (yesterday was 48 degrees, for example). It was a great week all in all.
LOOKING FORWARD TO: At the Indiana State Museum, if you haven't seen The Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition, you need to hustle over there as it leaves next week, and if you have seen it, you can always take another look. Here's the link to learn more about it. This is what's happening at the ISO this coming week: Saturday night is the Valentine's concert.
