Thanks to Twitter pal Jeannette, from The Whimsical Cupcake, for her pick of A Tourtely Apple Tart, found on pages 306-307 of Dorie Greenspan's Baking from My Home to Yours cookbook. Click here for the recipe.
I've been making a lot of pies/tarts lately for one of my other baking groups, and have fallen in love with other crusts...so, apologies to you all for defecting on the crust for this recipe, but I did not use Dorie's, I used a different one which is very very similar but which for some reason I can handle whereas I cannot seem to make Dorie's work for me...yes, I know, I know, you all love that dough and it works so well for you all and I am terribly embarrassed but I cannot get that crust to work for me, so I am admitting defeat and moving on in regards to that crust. That confessed, I did use her filling, and it was definitely the apply filling that made this tart so delicious.
This tart was a nice change from a regular 2-crust apple pie, but probably not a fan favorite here, meaning: it was nice to make/eat it, but it won't replace the apple pie that everyone requests when the apple pie cravings hit. Fun and easy to make this time for sure, so thanks, Jeannette, we enjoyed it, and I hope that your birthday weekend was everything you were hoping for in a birthday weekend!
