Thanks to Sabrina of Superfluous for her Tuesdays with Dorie pick of Cranberry Upside-Downer,
found on page 206 of Dorie Greenspan's Baking from My Home to Yours
cookbook. You can also find the recipe on Sabrina's site here. Thanks Sabrina, this was delicious!
I wasn't
able to find cranberries fresh or frozen, 'tis not the season here yet,
so I wandered over to the "Playing Around" section Dorie thoughtfully
supplies throughout the book and chose to use fresh peaches and
raspberries as we are having lovely peaches and raspberries in the
markets here right now.
Oh, my was this combination wonderful. It is
actually more wonderful than it looks as I am apparently not only any
good at braiding and knotting bread, I also have some issues in getting
fruit to form nice tight lovely circles for the flip over. It all
flipped over just fine, I just have no idea how those circles got so
messy. And who knows how those raspberries sank down between the
pockets, those aren't even showing and I used two dozen of them.
No
matter...that's the great thing about having only guys to cook for in the house,
they would never in a million years notice or comment on such an issue,
they only care about the taste! It did look very pretty and fruity, which they loved, so I'll work on getting those circles more perfect next time. This is a repeat recipe, and when
cranberries come into the stores, I am grabbing the first bag I see so
that I can try this recipe with those as well.
