Thanks to Becky of Project Domestication for her Tuesdays with Dorie pick of Burnt Sugar Ice Cream, found on page 432 of Dorie Greenspan's Baking from My Home to Yours cookbook. Becky has the recipe posted on her site today.
This recipe was easy and fun...what's not to enjoy about boiling sugar until it turns dark, tossing in some milk and cream so that it all bubbles like crazy and seizes up to the point of no return and then just melts into the most lovely liquid ready to sit and cool off in the frig until time to churn. Very fun, from beginning, to the last spoonful. Absolutely delicious.
I made half a recipe because I knew: it would be way too dangerous having this hanging around the house, even in portions like the one above in my One Scoop Birdie Bowl. Caramel ice cream...YUM!
Next week: Cristine from Cooking with Cristine has chosen Berry Tart, found on page 337. TWD blogroll found here.
