The tenth recipe I made from the Quick Breads Section of The Modern Baker by Nick Malgieri, was the one for Butterscotch Scones, on page 55. (We are not publishing recipes from the book, so if you like what you see, buy the book and bake along with or without us).
I
had such success with the scones yesterday, that I decided to make
another of the recipes from the book this morning. The ingredient list
is short: flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, eggs, and
heavy cream. I formed them like I did the ones I made yesterday as
that worked so well for me and it worked well for these also. They
baked for 15 minutes and we ate them warm.
Mark had a little butter on
his, because Mark always thinks that a little butter goes on
everything, but I had them plain and they were delicious that way, they
didn't need a thing. Melt in your mouth goodness.
I made a half batch, 8 medium-sized scones. These were a very big hit here, a definite repeat, and something I will make again and again. Matt wants them again tomorrow. They are easy enough, he just may get them!
If you would like to bake along or be a part of the Modern Baker group, you will find all that, plus a tab to link to the blogs posting the Quick Breads, with the blogroll here.
