Thanks to Mike of Ugly Food Dude for his Tuesdays with Dorie pick of Thumbprints For Us Big Guys, found on page 164 of Dorie Greenspan's Baking from My Home to Yours cookbook. Mike has the recipe posted on his site today.
The recipe says it makes 60, using the required teaspoon (a teaspoonful is for Big Guys? Hmmmmm), I got 6 dozen (72) of these little yummy cookies. Butter, flour, almonds, sugar, vanilla, almond extract, jam, and powdered sugar and just a small amount of time nets you a very nice tea cookie.
The guys went through 3 dozen in one sitting, without even a drop of tea. Anything that is small seems to just be what they refer to as "one bite wonders" and don't sit around here for long.

The ones in the photo have black raspberry jam and strawberry jam in them. The jam gives them just a little sweetness as the dough is not overly sweet. Definitely a keeper, definitely will make again. Definitely need to double the recipe next time.
Next week: Rachelle from Mommy? I'm Hungry! has chosen Soft Chocolate and Raspberry Tart, found on page 354. TWD blogroll found here.
