READING: The Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz Anniversary present...new cookbook, well ice cream sorbet, granita cookbook. A decidedly summer kind of reading book to have in one's possession. Actually reading a number of other things, but figured you would all want to check out an ice cream book, right?
LISTENING TO: Bryan Adams
PHOTO: Iris and Peonies from our yard in vases by my kitchen sink..such a joy to have flowers around.
COOKING THROUGH: Le Cordon Bleu at Home (Le Cordon Bleu School of Cooking), this week's assignment is Civet de Lapin a la Francaise (Rabbit Stew with Red Wine), pages 452-4533; Baking: From My Home to Yours (Dorie Greenspan), this week's recipe is Honey-Peach Ice Cream, and can be found on page 437; The Bread Baker's Apprentice (Peter Reinhart), this week's recipe is Bagels. You can cook/bake along, too!
FAV NEW FIND: Sourdough bread yeast starter that I won from a give away on a fellow BBA baker's blog. I named it Phyl after the original owner as it is traditional to name one's starter. It's a small world as Phyl is originally from Indiana and went to Notre Dame Law School. He has been baking for 30 years as a hobby. His breads are gorgeous.
FAV THING TODAY: Matt went a 21 in the 50 Backstroke today. WOW.
GOING TO: Have an enjoyable relaxing weekend.
PRAYING FOR: With Flag Day coming up, praying for all the service men/women who are protecting our way of life. Please join me.
