Nope, not a football player. Nope, not fun and games at the Gerth household. Nope, not a photo we will look back upon and cherish. What is this then? Shoulder problems...rotator cuff times 2. Spent yesterday at the doctor's office, the therapist's office, and then the scheduling office. None of it good.
This little set-up with the ice packs on the shoulders is scheduled for two bags twice a day until we return from Arizona at which point we develop a plan of action for "further practices in the foreseeable future." We leave today for a four-day meet in Kentucky; next week for a six-day camp/meet in Arizona...not exactly the best timing for rotator cuff worries. Only "kicking" practices, saving the shoulder for meets and the fancy pants camp in Arizona.
At least he is still smiling and being very positive about it all...even laughing at the thought of feeling a little like Frosty out in the sun melting away while I snapped this photo.
Blue Bernice is all shiny and spiffy and ready to roll after morning swim practice. Clarice and Dixie have their bags packed and we are set to have four fun-filled days in Louisville (which means that I will check in with the swimming, but left to my own devices I have a heavy schedule which includes The Frasier, The Speed, The Arts & Crafts Museum, Lunch at Lily's with Linda from Louisville, and a few other things I have penciled in if I can figure out a way to fit them in here and there).
Mark and Alex are holding down the home front and I can hardly believe my good luck at having drawn the card for getting to go to Louisville with the swimmers. Yahoo....me, Blue Bernice, Clarice, and Dixie on our own for four whole days...no end to the amount of crime that can be committed in that amount of time! (Three days is about my limit for exemplary behavior...my intention, however, is to try to stretch it to four.) May post from the road, maybe not...too soon to commit, so don't be surprised if you don't hear from me until Monday.
Have a great week and think fast times for that 100 Backstroke...he's a hopin' for that Junior National cut in that swim and Lakeside is usually a fast meet for him. Keep your fingers crossed and pray a little for those shoulders. We're outta here....
