My friend, Jan, in knitting class this morning. Her scarf is going to be Carmel High School gold...I opted for a deep wine color as the thought of making something in Guerin purple really didn't seem very "me."
READING: Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew as Shelley is teaching it to the ICHSA students this spring and I hadn't read it in a bit. Just as fun as I remembered it. Moving on to Henry V next as I am trying to talk Shelley into a field trip to the Frasier Museum in Louisville when she teaches it next fall. I plan on having specifics in hand when she says, "Well, what exactly would we be seeing that is directly mentioned in Henry V?" I plan to have my list ready to go. (Shhhh...don't tell Shelley so she won't have time to think of too many reasons to say "no.")
LISTENING TO: The Moody Blues...don't know why, but it feels like a Moody Blues kind of day...sun is not shining, grass is not getting green, birds are not chirping...a good day to be listening to The Moody Blues. Psychedelic Rock...remember that? They are still touring in England, btw. (Mark says "they are only touring because no one has seen fit to take the time to put them out of their misery"....he is not a fan...maybe of Nights in White Satin, but only on a rare day. Our taste in music varies greatly...but there are few we agree passionately on...TMB not being one of them, however.)
FAV NEW FIND: The Indiana University Hoosier men's basketball team now has a new head coach...all signed, sealed, and official like. (And, it is not Tony Bennett.) It is Tom Crean. Mark is just delighted, which is saying a lot, as Mark has not been delighted about the coaching at IU since BK left. All is right with the world. Okay, maybe not all, but it feels very good to have Tom Crean at the helm down in Bloomington.
FAV QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Maybe not so much a quote, but fun nonetheless. With the advent of Tom Crean as head Hoo coach, the IU team colors being Cream and Crimson, it was pretty much (sorry, Thurber), a given that at the formal announcement yesterday, there were already teeshirts saying "Crean and Crimson." It's worth a little giggle, right? Just a little?
FAV THING TODAY: Well, of course, my knitting class and then lunch at Keltie's with Jan. Can you even believe this? I'm actually the one doing it, and even I don't believe it: I learned how to knit the first type of stitch, something called a garter stitch. I might have something to post next week on Craft Day!
SCRAPBOOK PAGES THIS WEEK; Three...I lost something that I really really needed for one of those pages, so I am trying to track down another copy before moving on. What's that prayer we used to pray to St. Anthony when we were little, "Tony, Tony, look around, something's lost and must be found...." Hopefully, I will find it and be saying the last part of it soon...."Now it's found, and I've been blessed, Tony, Tony, you're the best!" Some things in life just never leave you, no matter how old you get. It's good to remember things like this once in awhile.
GOING TO: Enjoy Spring Break, which officially begins today after school! We went back and forth about going somewhere, and decided that what we really wanted to do was sleep late (which means 8:00 a.m. for me, probably slightly later for Matt, and probably around noon for Alex) every day (if you are a swimmer, you will appreciate the sleeping-in-later and realize that emphasis put on that can never been stressed enough), stay home once in awhile, and do things we love around our city...maybe a few day trips to check out some other cities. No one wanted to wait around in airports or get in the car and drive to Florida. No one wanted to stand in all the lines in Chicago, etc. So, we are going to just go where the wind takes us this week...I will post the results. I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to the swimming break...be still my heart...ah, the taste of freedom!
PRAYING FOR: Safety for our friends and relatives who are traveling for spring break, and for all travelers in general...please join me.
