Matt's first tuxedo...looking very spiffy in this, don'tchathink?
Four out of five football wins this past weekend...Guerin (second game of sectionals...who knew that was a possibility), Carmel (likewise, second game of sectionals...no surprise there), Iowa (took double-overtime, but they got the job done..."eventually" being better than losing), and the Colts (a slow start, but a great rally for a big finish)...sadly only the Hoos in our lineup lost (I am looking at that in a positive vein preferring to think that the Hoos are down there in Bloomington focusing on what is really important after October 1st...BASKETBALL). Speaking of the IU Hoos, pre-season rankings, for what they are worth (or not), have them 9th in the country. Not bad. We can start with that.
Matt celebrated his 700th Mass as an altar server on Sunday morning at SEAS. Wow. He also got his first formal tuxedo...the IYC singers wear this when they perform. Doesn't he look handsome? (I requested that there be "room for growth" as I can't seem to keep pants at the proper length for this boy...he is still growing!)
Alex spent the weekend camping with the scouts (Mark usually goes, but he decided that he would drive scouts there and back, but forego the camping in the tents and on the cold hard ground in favor of a nice warm bed at home...good choice imho.) After returning home Sunday morning, Alex headed off to Good Will to do volunteer service for the afternoon, Matt to choir, and Mark and I had a whole afternoon to watch the Colts, read, and fritter away the time in irresponsible manners, meaning: we did nothing really productive at all...dinner out for all of us to celebrate Matt's 700th altar-server Mass, homework for Alex, and Matt and I spent a couple hours reading and discussing Orwell's 1984 -- my THIRD time with this book and if my grandchildren ever have to read this some day, I am pleading Alzheimer's whether I have it or not...three times reading this book is way BEYOND the call of duty, four times is not happening regardless. So, what went on at your place over the weekend?
Tonight is MNO, so I threw a stew together in the crockpot for the guys, made muffins for the swimmer for morning, am baking an apple pie as we speak, and when that comes out of the oven, am headed out for the day. Have a good one...the leaves here are absolutely gorgeous, how about there?
