Busy weekend here...three day swim meet and 4-H projects were due on Sunday, fortunately for us, all in the same place: Noblesville. What a deal. Made going back and forth between the two much easier, that's for sure. Both boys were scrapbooking their vacations for the 4-H Scrapbook project right up until the last hour before we left to turn them in. How many tables does it take for BOYS to scrapbook...FOUR. Alex and Mark opted for the kitchen table and the coffee table for supplies. Matt opted for the dining table and a completely trashed and covered card table set up in the family room (you can see the chaos behind Mark in the photo). I just tried to close my eyes to the mess and hope that by Monday sanity would reign once again. Can you even believe Mark was helping Alex scrapbook???? (Well, mostly just chatting and advising but still, that counts as bonding, right?) I couldn't believe Alex was actually doing it, let alone Mark. Probably not something he wants passed around, so shhhhh. He even posed them out on the deck with their albums when they finished. I would venture to say, however, that probably is the extent to which any of the three are going to be scrapbooking...until next year and the last possible hours before fair. It's amazing to me that they get honors each year and Alex even had a champion a couple years ago. If that judge only knew that he was putting photos in his album in the car on the way to the fair...shhhhh...don't tell that either!
Oh, and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to Mark's dad, Emil, who turns 85. This is the year of the "5s" as Mark turns 55 this month, and Matthew turns 15 this month. Emil is the most wonderful father-in-law anyone could ever wish for, a golfing fool (he is out there every day from the day the course opens, until the day it closes each year), an excellent role model for his family, and outstanding in community service. We all want to be like him when we grow up. Happy Birthday, Big E!
