The 74th recipe I made from The Modern Baker by Nick Malgieri, was the one for Raisin Pecan Spice Bars, on page 275. (We are not publishing recipes from the book, so if you like what you see, buy the book and bake along with or without us).
The ingredient list: all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, butter, dark brown sugar, sugar, eggs, molasses, sour cream, raisins, and pecans.
These are really wonderful, moist, spicy, sweet, delicious, a little one goes a long way as they are filling, so a big pan makes a huge amount.
I wanted these for the Christmas cookie tray so I fancied them up a bit with a little icing on the top just to make them seem party-festive. There weren't any left at the end of the evening. Definitely a repeat, this is a really nice recipe for a spice bar.
If you would like to bake along or be a part of the Modern Baker group, you will find all that, plus a tab to link to the blogs posting, with the blogroll here.
